Financial Controller

Pandektes

Fra Ashby

We’re looking for an experienced Financial Controller to take full ownership of our numbers as we scale. You’ll run a tight month-end close, get our SaaS revenue accounting airtight, and build the finance processes that let us grow fast without drowning in manual work. If you like turning messy into robust, read on.

About Pandektes

Legal research hasn’t changed much in decades. Lawyers still spend countless hours navigating fragmented sources, outdated systems, and complex databases just to find the information they need.

At Pandektes, we’re changing that.

Our ambition is to build the leading global platform for legal research and the largest AI-powered legal database. By combining artificial intelligence, intelligent search, and continuously updated legal sources, we’re redefining how legal knowledge is accessed, understood, analyzed, and applied.

Pandektes has raised more than €17.5 million and most recently closed a €13.5 million Series A round (October 2026) led by Alstin Capital, PROfounders and Scale Capital. Pandektes already serves more than 450 customers across Denmark, Germany and Switzerland.

We’re still early in the journey, and joining our team now means you’ll have big impact on shaping how we scale.

About the role

This is a hands-on role responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial information, overseeing the month-end close, management accounts, financial reporting and statutory compliance, while continuously improving financial processes, systems and internal controls and working closely with Senior Management, external service providers and the wider business teams. The role will combine strong technical accounting expertise with a proactive, solutions-focused approach and the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, evolving environment.

What you’ll do

  • Own the monthly and annual close – reviewing journals, accruals, prepayments, provisions and balance sheet reconciliations, and delivering accurate trial balances and financial statements on time

  • Make sure our SaaS revenue (subscription, usage-based and implementation) is recognised correctly, and reconcile revenue schedules to billing, contracts and the general ledger

  • Produce reliable monthly P&L, balance sheet and cash flow reporting

  • Take over revenue billing from the sales team and run it within finance

  • Manage our outsourced service providers and review the reconciliations they prepare – bank, intercompany, payroll, fixed assets and other control accounts

  • Design and maintain financial policies, controls and approval limits across payments, expenses, procurement and system access

  • Oversee AP, AR and cashbook accounting, manage payments through Corepay, and keep an eye on working capital

  • Lead statutory accounts and external audits, and oversee VAT, corporate tax and compliance with our tax advisers

  • Coordinate intercompany accounting and reporting across our entities in Denmark, Germany, Switzerland and the UK

  • Improve finance processes, systems and automation – and over time, build and develop a small accounting team

What you’ll bring

  • 7+ years in commercially focused accounting roles, ideally with previous experience as a Financial Controller

  • A recognised Danish accounting qualification (or equivalent, e.g. ACA, ACCA or CIMA)

  • Hands-on experience with subscription and deferred revenue, including month-end revenue reconciliations

  • A track record of independently running the month-end close and producing accurate management accounts

  • Experience with intercompany balances, foreign currencies and reporting across international subsidiaries

  • Exposure to international tax, VAT and transfer pricing, and experience running a local audit process

  • A strong grasp of internal controls, segregation of duties and fraud risk

  • Experience improving finance operations in a growing, scaling business – and a love for systems and automation

  • A sharp eye for detail and the analytical instinct to tell a real business issue from an accounting error
