Product Development Engineer
Join VELUX as a Product Development Engineer and help turn ideas into functional solutions for new product launches and product improvements. Working closely with experienced colleagues, you will solve fine mechanical challenges and help create high-quality Decoration and Sun Protection products.
Meet your future team
You will join the Decoration and Sun Protection (DSP) team in Skjern, which is part of our Products & Innovation organisation. The team consists of seven product developers and three project managers and develops interior accessories, including mechanical components for electrical products. You will work with skilled mechanical engineers who share knowledge, exchange ideas, and support one another.
What we offer
As a Product Development Engineer, you will develop and optimise products, with a particular focus on new product launches. You will work with fine mechanical design, where the performance of small details can be important to the overall product experience. Our close collaboration with the workshop allows you to get from design to physical models fast. You can often see and test a model shortly after developing an idea.
The role combines self-directed development work with regular collaboration, idea-sharing, and technical guidance across the team and wider organization. You will work closely with the Lead Engineer, who will help define development tasks and provide technical support throughout the process.
More specifically your tasks will be to:
- Develop new DSP products and product improvements from concept to industrialisation.
- Define technical solutions, specifications, and design choices that translate physical properties into reliable product functions.
- Build, test, and refine models in collaboration with the workshop and relevant colleagues.
- Work with project managers, product developers, and colleagues across VELUX to help ensure products meet performance, quality, regulatory, cost, and sustainability requirements.
The role is based in Skjern, with the option to work from home up to two days per week when project and task requirements allow. Limited travel is expected, with up to 15 days per year in Denmark and internationally.
What you will bring into the organization
You bring a relevant engineering background and an interest in product development where precision and fine mechanical solutions matter. You can manage your own development tasks while collaborating with colleagues and seeking input to develop practical solutions.
Moreover, we expect that you:
- Hold a bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.
- Bring relevant experience in product development, mechanical design, or related engineering tasks.
- Have experience using 3D CAD software; experience with CREO is an advantage but not a requirement.
- Can translate material and physical properties into functional mechanical designs.
- Apply a methodical and solution-oriented approach to detailed technical challenges.
- Communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
