Senior Microwave Engineer – Oscillators
Are you passionate about developing advanced microwave oscillator systems for world-class Doppler radar solutions?
At Weibel, you will become part of a growing, technology-driven company where curiosity, innovation, and dedication are the foundation of our global success. We develop and manufacture high-performance radar systems at our in-house production facilities, enabling us to explore new solutions while maintaining uncompromising quality. Our greatest asset is our talented employees, who work in a modern environment and continuously advance our market-leading radar solutions for applications such as air surveillance and precision tracking.
We are strengthening our Antenna R&D Group and are looking for a Senior Microwave Engineer to join us as we enter a new growth phase.
About the position
As our new colleague, you will drive the development of microwave oscillators from early concept through design, integration, and deployment into our radar systems. You will collaborate closely with colleagues across analog, digital, and mechanical engineering disciplines. In addition, you will contribute to architectural improvements in collaboration with our system architects.
Your primary responsibilities include:
- Designing, developing, and optimizing oscillator modules and circuitry for high-performance radar applications.
- Researching and evaluating new oscillator technologies to improve phase noise, frequency stability, and overall system performance.
- Serving as the technical subject-matter expert for oscillator designs and their integration.
- Supporting prototype assembly, testing, and DFM reviews to ensure successful transfer to production.
- Providing technical support to in-house production and customers through engineering guidance, root-cause analysis, and documentation.
This is an exciting opportunity to shape the frequency-generation foundation of Weibel's radar portfolio and enhance the performance of our next-generation radar systems.
About you
You thrive in an Agile environment, where you work both independently and in close collaboration with your team and cross-functional stakeholders. You value continuous learning and are comfortable operating in a dynamic R&D setting with multiple parallel activities, some requiring immediate attention and others progressing through structured project plans.
Your qualifications include:
- An M.Sc. or PhD degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related field, preferably with a specialization in RF or microwave hardware design.
- Hands-on experience with oscillator and frequency-generation design, e.g., VCOs, DROs, or PLL-based synthesizers, including optimization of phase noise, frequency stability, and spectral purity.
- A strong background in RF, microwave, or mixed-signal systems development, combined with a solid understanding of the full product development lifecycle.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements (e.g., radio and EMC) and military standards applied in mission-critical industries.
- Strong communication skills in English, both written and spoken.
Furthermore, you are comfortable leveraging AI-assisted tools to improve engineering efficiency and quality.
Your new team
Our team consists of over 10 engaged colleagues, with experience ranging from a few years to more than 35 years in radar engineering. The team is part of our cross-functional Antenna R&D Group, bringing together architects and design specialists across RF, analog, digital, and mechanical domains to deliver cutting-edge radar technology.
