Senior Network Engineer Linux

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Networking Engineer with strong expertise in Linux, Linux Networking, data-center networking, routing, and high-throughput packet delivery to join our Operations team in Copenhagen, working side by side with our SRE team. This role involves owning the network that underpins our backup infrastructure. From the physical and virtual topology inside our data centers to the edge and connectivity that carries billions of objects over foreign APIs and imperfect networks. You will define how traffic flows, how it stays reliable under load, and how it stays secure end to end. Technical ownership, a systematic approach to reliability, and strong initiative are essential for this role.

You will:

• Own and evolve our network architecture, data-center network, routing (BGP/OSPF), and segmentation.

• Design and operate load balancing, ingress, and traffic-management for a platform moving data at scale

• Build even stronger documentation of our Linux network stack, routing stack and switching stack.

• Define and enforce network reliability standards, runbooks, and change-management practices.

• Build network automation and extend our observability stack - treat the network as code, with visibility into every hop

• Collaborate with SRE, Development, Operations and Security to identify and resolve bottlenecks and issues before they become incidents

• Champion automation - if something is done twice, it should be scripted the third time

About you

Must-haves:

• 7+ years in a Network Engineering, Network Reliability, or Infrastructure Engineering role

• Strong hands-on experience with routing and switching at scale (BGP, OSPF, VLANs)

• Solid Linux networking fundamentals - the kernel network stack, iptables / nftables, traffic shaping and comfortable working close to the metal

• Experience with load balancing and reverse proxies (Nginx, HAProxy, or equivalent)

• Proactive mindset - you spot gaps before they become incidents

• Clear communicator; you can translate network decisions for engineers who don’t live in a terminal
  
  Nice-to-haves:

• Network automation experience (Ansible, Terraform, or vendor APIs) and infrastructure-as-code practices

• Experience with Kubernetes networking (CNI, service mesh, ingress controllers)

• Familiarity with network observability and flow analysis (sFlow/NetFlow, eBPF-based tooling)

• Experience with DDoS mitigation, firewalling, or network security at the perimeter

• Experience operating networks across multiple data centers or hybrid cloud environments.
