About The Role

You will join a growing AI team of 19 talented colleagues with a shared mission: transforming data and AI into measurable business value for Flatpay and our merchants.

We are hiring Data Scientists across two areas: improving our KYC and Image AI products, and developing AI-powered customer service automations.

As a Data Scientist, you will design, build, and productionize GenAI and/or Machine Learning powered products and pipelines that support business-critical processes across the organization.

You will own the implementation of solutions together with colleagues from the AI team and the wider business. This includes understanding the underlying business problem, shaping the solution, building it, deploying it to production, and continuously improving it based on real-world performance.

The role is ideal for someone who combines strong GenAI and software engineering skills with the ability to communicate effectively with business stakeholders. You should enjoy turning ambiguous operational challenges into practical AI products that create measurable value.

What You'll Do

• Design, build, and maintain production-grade AI products and pipelines using Python, Databricks, and MLflow.

• Apply traditional machine learning and GenAI techniques, choosing the right approach based on the business problem, available data, and operational requirements.

• Work within one of our key focus areas:
  - Customer service: Build GenAI and classical ML powered automations, including ticket classification, information retrieval, response assistance, and workflow automation.
  - KYC & Image AI: Build document and image processing workflows that extract and validate information, populate application fields, and integrate with acquiring partners.

• Integrate models and AI applications with internal systems, APIs, and external platforms.

• Write clean, maintainable, and tested Python code, with monitoring, validation, guardrails, and fallback mechanisms appropriate to the use case.

• Evaluate solutions against relevant technical and business measures, including accuracy, reliability, latency, cost, and operational impact.

• Collaborate with data engineers and other technical teams to build on reliable, scalable, and well-governed data foundations.

• Work directly with stakeholders to understand processes, define requirements, and take solutions from proof of concept through production and ongoing improvement.

Who You Are

We are hiring across several focus areas and do not expect you to have experience in all of them. We are looking for a strong technical foundation, a practical approach to problem-solving, and relevant experience in the area you would join.

Required

• You have 2–4 +years of industry experience in Data Science, Machine Learning, AI Engineering, or a similar technical role.

• You have strong Python skills and write clean, maintainable, and tested code.

• You understand core machine learning concepts, including data preparation, model evaluation, and validation.

• You have hands-on experience building solutions with traditional machine learning, GenAI, or a combination of both.

• You are comfortable working with SQL and data processing libraries such as Pandas.

• You understand what it takes to move a solution from prototype to production, including testing, monitoring, and reliability.

• You communicate clearly with non-technical stakeholders and can translate business needs into practical technical solutions.

• You take ownership, enjoy learning, and care about building solutions that create measurable business value.

Nice to Have - Depending on Your Focus Area

Relevant experience in one or more of the areas below is a plus. You do not need to cover every area.

• Customer service and GenAI automation: Experience building LLM-powered applications using structured outputs, tool calling, RAG, or agents, particularly for ticket classification, response assistance, and workflow automation. Familiarity with Freshdesk or similar platforms is a plus.

• KYC and image processing: Experience processing documents and images with multimodal models, extracting structured information, validating data, or integrating with onboarding and verification systems.
