Senior Java Software Engineer

The Customer Relationship squad is responsible for the data and core capabilities of the relationship between a customer and subsidiaries of the Danske Bank Group.  
You will work closely with the team and the Product Owner to align with stakeholders and ensure a seamless customer journey, and you will be part of a modernization at the very core of the bank.   

We are looking for a Senior Java Software Engineer who enjoys translating business needs into scalable and secure technical solutions. As a squad, we are exploring how AI agents and tools can enhance our development processes, ways of working and the value we deliver. You will help shape this journey by turning promising ideas into practical improvements for the team. 

Working closely with your colleagues, you will contribute throughout the development lifecycle – from understanding and refining requirements to implementation, testing, deployment and ongoing support – with efficiency and quality at the heart of everything we do. 

You will 

• Contribute to solutions throughout the development lifecycle, from design and implementation to deployment and handover to end users. 
• Apply your experience to solve complex technical challenges, share knowledge and support colleagues in delivering strong outcomes. 
• Ensure high-quality code by applying sound engineering practices and writing automated tests. 
• Help us move towards event- and API-focused, cloud-hosted solutions where data consumer self-service is the way forward. 
• Operate within a self-organising Scrum team, applying an agile mindset. 
• Support, maintain and modernise existing solutions. 
• Use AI-assisted development tools to improve productivity and quality and help the team explore and adopt valuable AI solutions. 
   

What we are looking for 

• Strong proficiency in Java and its supporting development tools. 
• Hands-on experience designing, developing and testing modern software solutions; experience with cloud-native systems is an advantage. 
• Professional English communication skills. 
• A proactive and collaborative approach to working within and across teams. 
• An interest in improving engineering practices and sharing knowledge with colleagues. 
• Good understanding of DevOps and CI/CD tools, such as Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions or Jenkins. 
• Hands-on experience using AI as part of software development and a strong focus on identifying, testing and championing AI solutions within the team
• A team-oriented mindset and the ability to communicate clearly about technical decisions and solutions.
